I was wondering if anyone has thought about building a small floating dock or submerged platform at the Stevenson launch? Launching and especially landing this last week was super slippery and I know I along with others were falling all over trying to get the kite up or landed and onto shore. I am sure you have to go through some type of approval process through the city, but I would be willing to help with the petitioning and building if anyone else is interested. Just something solid out there on those rocks would help prevent any tatered ankles.

There was a floating one there last year not sure what happened to it or if people liked using it.

what about throwing a big thing of carpet in the shallow area. In hood river on the gravel by the parking lot they have a big 10 x 10 ft carpet, thats all you really need i think. We could maybe even get a red carpet and roll it our from the bottom of the steps into the water at the beginning of the day. Would carpet sink?

carpet wouldn't float, but it would get hella slimy and slippery pretty quick.

Carpet would definitely be cheaper, if we went with the outdoor green turf type. It wouldn't have to be permanent, so you could roll it up on high water days or in the off season.

-WE used to carpet the bottom of the lake at the Marina I used to work at......WE would lay down that blue astro-turf and weight it down with cinder blocks or rocks....Not much current there though...
I would imagine you could tie a corner or two to shore, then weight the rest down with rocks and it would probably stay for awhile.
