How young is too young? My nephews (10 and 12 years old) are coming to visit and want to learn to kite. I haven't seen a lot of kids out there and was wondering why? Is anyone teaching kids in Hood River?

The smile says it all.
Here's the youngest of the Bolstad clan, Rebecca, this week in Stevenson (age 14, 100 lbs.) She did her first jump. Start them slowly with good instructions and good safe gear. We have a kayak you can use to go out with them.

Including myself, there's a couple of instructors that offer land lessons here in Seaside and 10-14 yr olds do great. Typically we have them landboarding on small foils and doing downwinders in one lesson. Quick learners even start tacking. Sunset Beach is great b/c once they have it down, you can just follow them in a car. As a comparison, most adults can't even start looking at a landboard until 3+ hours of instruction with kite flying and basics.
