What is the best route to take to Sauvies around 2:30pm? It looks like it might be really good there.
Thanks Very Happy

In "Hood" I'm assuming "da" Hood River. . . i-84 west to i-5 north, take the Freemont bridge west, stay in the right lane and take the exit for HWY 30 (Scappoose, St. Helens, SI). Go on hwy 30 till the SI bridge, take a right onto the bridge and travel approx 10 miles to Reeder Beach and or 1 mile from the nude beach.

once on the island you should loop back under the bridge and go that way... you will eventually come to a stop sign, take a right and follow that to the beach, the beach starts when you see sets of stairs typically most kiters go to the last 2 sets and park there. you may also want to consider buying a parking sticker at the convenience store which is just on the island side of the bridge just to the north... then you can go back under the bridge toward the beach

I wouldn't go that way (under the highway) there is allot more traffic and farm machinery and stuff on the road. It's faster to take the main route

The under the bridge route has less turns and more straight-aways. If you're driving an old VW bus like I am, it's better to go this way.

***SIGH****

Can anyone here resist the urge to give ALL the best information out?

Now when I want to drive 90mph on the straight roads I will be stuck behind Bulae's windsurfing van with the big plastic tubes mounted on the top and the "I brake for board leashes" bumpsticker.

But alas....
The under the bridge route is longer, albeit faster. Especially when you drive like a freaking lunatic (but only when there are no other cars, bikers, or people.) (that just isn't cool).

Don't forget our Sauvies Guide:

http://www.nwkite.com/guides/sauvie_island/

From the Hood, if you drove 75 on 84 the whole way into Troutdale you could probably make it to Sauvies in an hour and a half.

Spots that might be closer are Kalama or Woodland. Both are nice but traffic is usually a problem if you are headed out 3pm-7pm.
