So, I forgot my 17 on Wednesday....lucky I was sportin' my big ole woody at SI.
149 x 46...40 tip 1/2" thk ply no rocker no fins
I was able to salvage a session on my 12 with the PlyGlyde...until the wind popped up and I was able to ride my 132...that ply gets squirly
Its fun, super loose and slippery, points hard upwind....Though I'd rather ride my 17 & 132...but this should be cool for super light skim alternate sessions
Just under $60....rides just like you would imagine a $60 PlyGlyde would ride...like a big ole Caddy

Just a suggestion for the woodies
I've seen:
Wider stance = more range
Try 24" c/c and don't go with stick
on pads. Score some of my plates
from NSI so you can experiment.

Yeah good call on the expiramentation with plates...but the stickons were $5.95...plates next time, now that I know It'll ride ok...might go with 3/8" too
Also, heads up on stick ons - contact cement will melt the finish...messy, so use the peel & stick

Any pointers on a source of cheap footstraps?
How about aircraft grade real thin plywood? And some balsa on top? That's my plan anyway. But I have the Glide for now.

Mr. Plywood & Woodcrafters in PDX both have marine ply & spar varnish
I didn't use marine cause it was too expensive...this is the 4hr, 14 lb, $60 proto board...to see if it would work
I was going to go 3/8" marine ply, but it was $70 for a 4'x8' sheet...Mr. Plywood had 5'x 2.5' $16 sheet Baltic Birch, but the only had 1/2"..picked it cause it would fit in my car & it was cheap. Its heavy...I think 3/8" would be better, bit lighter & more flex

Hey I got a run on the Ply Glyde (thanks Tom!) and it's definitely got the same magic low end as the Glide. The Glide does have its own advantage (weight, thin rails, and flex) but when you consider $750 versus $50-$60 for the ply glyde....
Its super fun to snake people out onto the River who don't know your on a lightwind board. I could go upwind on my 13m when guys on 16's struggled to keep on plane.
Some might scoff at riding a "door" but if you consider it could be the difference between being totally skunked or getting some water time in, well...

Well the assumption is that I can do as well or better than Glide and sell mine.
My old board - I gave it to the dude who dragged my ass out of the barge channel on his jetski

Sooooo, can somebody who has a SS GLIDE, weigh that board.
Simple subtraction and a bathroom scale will do.
