This one worked great when I crunched my ankle on the skimboard - somewhere between Forrest's and an aircast
- I put one strip of duct tape around it and sucures the velcro

It combines a corsett with three straps the wrap and velcro - I play Ultimate Frisbee with this and held up great in the saltwater (nylon)

I read this thread because I am too out with an ankle injury.

I wouldn't have brought up the shameless plug, but JP opened the door...

I was wearing the LF Escalade binding when I landed nose first from a backroll in 2" of water. I compressed forward and my face was 8" from my foot as it happened.

One of those slow motion events.. saw and remember the whole thing. My kneee twisted out about 100 deg and I watched the binding material twist and get taught.. then it stopped and sprang back to normal.

I am 100% sure that the binding saved me from the multiple fracture with pins scenario Jessie Richmond experienced a month or so back.. doing the same thing in a footstrap.

thanks Penxa. those escalades would look sic on my board. and they would be an awesome way to increase the weight by 5x so it stops flying off the water.

Wake up & smell the coffee.... GABE you're smart enough to know what I telling you is something you already know but don't want to hear.

You can go with an air cast, wrap/tape and risk aggravating it or making it worse.

Then again, if you are the sole-proprietor of an open mind, you might consider changing how you play the game (for a short spell) so you can keep playing it with less risk.

If you want support, real support, go wake.... or have Hein mount a chair on your surf ride....

that's the best idea. should i mount the chair facing forward like a handicapped skier, or sideways so i can still be a wannabee surfer?

actually, i bet there is less aggravation from strapless than even a boot setup, as long as you avoid any impacts. it's not really that bad at all, just need to be more cautious for 1-2 weekends and not ride past the point of fatigue.

gabe if you are riding strapless, i would think you could get away with wearing the aircast. the thing is you need to wear it with a shoe but since you are strapless it is feasible. i have one if you want to try it out. maybe try it this week at jetty and confirm it works then you can commit to a gorge trip this weekend. i have the lace up style as well.

surfboard with straps. got rolled in some coast waves and didn't kick out fast enough. it's not a big deal. just need to stay on the surface of the big glassy rollers for a weekend and use some white tape for a bit.

man, gotta wade in on this one: the best brace to wear when kiting is, orcourse no brace attall.

wtf? thats right amigos. if you have to wrap your ankle (knee, elbow, back, neck) to perform an activity, you are far better off not engaging in the activity until the body part is sufficiently rehab'd to allow for pain free, crutch-free use. or: how does arthritis sound to you?

this idea is really not all that controversial. if you rely on an exoskeleton to take the load during impact sports, the underlying musculature will atrophy. the body is efficient. ever seen a leg come out of a cast after 6-8 weeks?

if you aint making a living at it, its better to spend the time getting fully well and then in the gym. thats right, 'nough said.
