Noticed Kiters cleaning up broken glass and garbage last nite.
Nice Job
I will try and remember to put some garbage bags in my rig too.
Anyone know if the County maintains the area ?
What about an ATV to tow a huge rake around and clean up the sand ?

hey pete,
good to see others doing this. we are probably the cleanest of the visitors to that beach. i pick stuff up out of the parking lot since most of the time i also have something in my car to throw away.
bravo to those helping to keep the beaches clean.

Hey big kudos to those who pick up all the trash on the beach. I will bring an extra garbage bag next time I head out.
Another good no-wind activity is pulling weeds in the launching area. |

Good stuff! A friend of mine almost stepped on a kitchen knife out there Sunday... definately wouldn't have been cool. |

hey pkh,
what do you consider weeds? those plants that are actually on the beach hold the sand/dune together and i would think pulling them would be quite the bad idea. not sure about what is on the dune itself but, i would check with a fish and wildlife ranger before tugging anything out of the ground or you could wind up with quite the fine.

I'm talking about keeping the main launch area clear. The weeds I pull weren't there last season. |

Yeah that snake grass comes and goes with the rain. I don't think it will upset things to clear it out in the spring. I will miss the floating diapers along the shoreline though. So full of juicy goodness. |

That was me picking up the garbage the other day. Not looking for praise, just a clean beach to enjoy while kiting. Don't want to get my big feet cut by the buried bottles etc . . .
As for kiters being the cleanest ones on the beach, that may be true, but I found a lot of high end beer caps and kiting labels and packing material from new gear on the beach right where we all park our stuff, so we all can do better. If you see something pick it up, unless its one of those dirty diapers, save it for Wind Slither
Its already blowing N12 right now. See ya on the water!!!!!! |
