Mon Jun 04, 07 7:23 pm waroo 2007 bar questions |
|
|
I just checked out the 2007 Waroo bar for the first time. Lots of great improvements over 2006. I have some questions for those who have tried it:
1. On the bar I tried in the shop, it was hard pull the power strap. Does that get easier once there is tension on the lines and maybe a little water to lubricate?
2. The velcro to hold the depower strap on to the chicken loop line is a great idea. But I noticed that when you pull the depower strap all the way, this velcro pushes the stopper almost down to the bar. This would have the effect of not allowing you to depower the kite by letting the bar out (you would have to move the stopper up first). What do you end up doing? Push hard out on the bar to depower by moving the stopper? Or moving the stopper by hand and then letting the bar out?
3. In order to have the chicken loop safety release on your right (the way I like it), it looks like the power and depower straps have to be aimed away from you. Is this correct? Or maybe it can be reconfigured?
4. How do you like the whole stopper thing? There's so little bar pressure with Waroos, that I ride for hours without even feeling like I need a stopper. On the other hand, it would be nice just to spin the bar to untwist the lines (instead of some weird hand-over hand thing like you have to do with 2006 bars). Is that what you use it for? Is it useful for anything else? |

1. undue the velcro on the depower strap and keep it undone--it's not safe
2. the pwr/depwr loosens up with use
3. I never use the stopper in The Gorge, as I always want max throw and the bar pressure is light so I never feel I need it
4. I spin my bar a lot. Just give it a quick tug in and spin in one quick motion--ez

I don't follow. Without the stopper, it would be just like spinning a 2006 bar. When I spin that bar, I have to always have at least one hand on it at any moment. Are you saying there is a way to spin the bar without a stopper, and where you don't have any hands on the bar at all? It would seem to me the bar would fly away from you the instant you let go with both hands (even if you had just tugged in on it). |

it does fly away, but with an inward tug as you throw the bar--spin it--not very far. Usually I spin the kite. |
