Leave at 3pm get a session in at the Coast and be back in time for the evening news!
Quote: | A ridge builds over the region and Gorge gradients look weak but westerly. Coastal sites look good with NW flow developing and mostly sunny skies. Highs in the 80s in The Gorge and 60s at coastal sites.
North Coast NW 15-19 with 20-25 at Manzanita. Central Coast NW 18-22. South Coast NW 22-26. West swell 5 feet at 10 seconds. |

I haven't been to Manzanita in so long, I'm super stoked. To bad we don't have Gabe here to show us how it's done. I'm thinking about trying to leave around 2-2:30PM to avoid some of that 3pm traffic. |

Forrest, I'm not sure what the wind is like at Manzanita this time of year, but the general trend in the summer is for it to start ramping up quickly in the afternoon maxing out around 3pm. It then stays pretty steady until about 6pm and then slowly starts to get more holey as it slowly dies down with the wind not filling in at the shore as well, especially on the North part of the beach. Bottom line is to get there as early as you can (closer to 3) and to keep in mind that wind further South on the beach might be better longer as it starts to die off. Manzanita rocks! Good winds to ya! |

Yea, with the two hour drive it might not be feasible. It's looking kind of grim at the moment, I might hit up Stevenson instead. |
