PostSat May 19, 07 3:30 am    13M OR 15M FUEL ? Reply with quote

Hi guys I'm new to this forum , but have been reading it for some time.

I need some advice on the 07 Fuels.I've got a 11m which is superb .I've used it in 20-30 knots and it rocks.Turns fast , jumps high , depowers well.

I'm wandering whats the best size for 14-20 knots.I'm 90kg and prefer fast flying kites. Will the 13m do the job or is the 15m better.

Any response welcome.Cheers Very Happy

i have not flown the 15m 07 fuel, but i had a 15m 06 fuel and sold it months ago cause it was too slow, about as fast as my 20.5 machine. This year i got a 13m fuel and find i can easily generate as much power as my 06 15m fuel could, but it boosts waaaayyyy higher because it is a faster moving kite, but i weigh ~80 kg and ride a misfit 127 so the 13m may work if you ride a bigger board than that.

damn magic, your up early on a saturday after a late afternoon session!

i have a 15m 07 and it is fine. just make sure to get it with the bigger bar. jumping is ok. yet last years 13m was very sweet. you could boost big big floaty air.

I’ve been riding the ’07 13m Fuel and the low end is very good. As you know, the de-power of the Fuels is also very good. I haven’t flown the 15m but, I would go with the 15m to cover a larger wind range. Doesn’t make sense to me to have an 11m and 13m in you quiver unless you kite in a very narrow wind range and want to have the perfect kite for the given conditions…

Having a larger board for lighter wind is another option. I’ve been riding the SS Fuse (149cm) and 13m Fuel. Sick combination!!!

I’m also ~90 kilos

Dano, how do you like that fuse? Have you taken it to the coast>?

Thinking that may be better lightwind board than a surfboard.

I've personally been flying the 06 15 Fuel a lot (I'm 205lbs) here in the gorge and have been super happy with the range.
The comment about going with the larger bar is a good idea for improving the turning performance of the kite (big difference for catching air).

The 13 is a faster kite, but likely far too close to the size of your 11.

If you go with the bigger bar for the 2006 Fuel 15 or go with a 2007 Fuel 15 (which turn much quicker than the 06), you'll appreciate it much better than going with a 13.

Haven’t got to ride the Fuse in the ocean, just got it a couple of weeks ago… Hopefully this weekend!

I agree that the Fuse is probably a better option for light wind than a surfboard, depending on what type of surfboard you’re talking about. A short board with three or four fins takes a lot of power/speed to get up on a plane. Now a long board with a single fin would probably do okay in light wind, but I haven’t ridden a long board, So I can’t really comment on that…

I was looking at the SS SRT, but it’s too much board for me. I’m not that good of a surf rider and still can’t constantly jib, so the fuse was the perfect fit for me and my quiver. The board is big enough for lighter winds or down-sizing your kite and small enough to jump and perform tricks! My other board is a TT - 137 SX.

A skim board is another option, but if you want one board that can do it all in the river and ocean than the Fuse is the board for you.

DUDE, that thing is $750!!! $750 for a production run board?

WTF man? Does it have a platinum top sheet and a solid gold inner core?

Looks sweet but that is some pricey shit yo.
