(I was going to post this into the thread with the diagram but I figure we should brainstorm some ideas for the wood. No idea is bad, no one should make fun of anyone else's ideas, lets just get it all down here so they can be considered by the CGKA. Phillip, not sure if this is important enough to make sticky for a few days but it'd be nice.)

Here are mine:

We shouldn't dump anything in the river, especially dense sections of tree trunks. Lots of boats go up and down the river, and I'd hate for the CGKA to be found liable for someone's boat getting damaged or worse.

Creating more salmon habitat,
Sandbox for kids,
Water redirection to shape the sandbar,
Place logs in strategic positions to stop errosion,
Benches on the Sandbar for people to watch from a safe distance,
Photography tower,
Natural log slider <- Smile

If all else fails, we should save the wood for a massive bonfire!

Or we could make a massive phallus as an offering to the wind surfers at the event site! Like a gift! Razz

I like the stop erosion and make benches ideas.

Might have to set this up as a poll thread!

Wow, great ideas Forrest - I second the vote for benches and anything to help prevent more erosion. PKH: This topic definitely deserves a "sticky"

I used one as a bench on Sunday after freezing my ass off in the water to warm up. Seemed to work pretty well too. Just need to get all the sharp branches off of them!

How about benches out of the wind. We could pile the wood up wind of the benches, maybe close enough to create the PKH HONEY HOLE, (excellent for photo ops) and call it eriosion control and fish habitat all at the same time. Its one hell of an idea!

you should build me a bum-hut or two so I have a place to sleep at night...well, a better place to sleep. The barn is ok except bedding down in owl pellets is not the best of things...

Build the slider - I want to see Forrest hit it.

I would think that if it was reorganize strategically to prevent erosion of your sand bar and encourage more deposits of sand from the water( like a wingdam) and or wind( Drift). Wink removing it completely may cause global warming down the road (fire) and affect future salmon habitat. Laughing Laughing
