so i was packing up my warroo the other day and closing the bag tight, when i looked down at the ball they use to close up the backpack. Would something like that work? or would it not hold the bar pressure?

(basically, it's a ball with a hole in it, and a spring loaded button that puts pressure on the lines going through it).

Seems like it could work, but it'd have to have a lot stronger spring than on a draw cord...

Elvis: Are you thinking of a stopper ball for your waroo's.......?

I am looking to mod-out my bars too.

You can buy the 07 upgrade kit for the 06 bars. No stopper at all just seems hellish to me. I don't know how the Waroos got so popular with no stopper on the stock bar.

BTW - I've been comparing the North stopper to the Slingshot. The North stopper "slips"... which I thought I didn't like, but the advantage is you can depower the kite quickly with one hand. The Slingshot stopper sticks like glue which is nice until that big unexpected gust hits and now it's a two-hand process to depower.

Ideally it seems like it would be nice to adjust the resistance or to have a quick release button. I'm new to these stoppers so this might be old hash.

Question

I've actually found the 07 slingshot active stopper balls can be moved out while sheeting out the bar if you put one hand in the center of the bar and lead out a couple of fingers and use them to move hte stopper ball out before it comes into contact with the bar. Takes a little practice, but works really well for me. pulling the damned thing in, of course, is a whole nother ball game.

First off, my apologies if this sounds like commercial post.

You might try contacting Wiley's Watersports up here in Seattle. Shipping costs should be minimal to Portland.

As many of you might know, Darren modifies stock bars to perform well with Waroo style kites. He has a selection of stoppers, from the ones that hold (slingy style) to ones that hold but will punch out in the event of a gusty situation (north style).

Yeah, I know...seems crazy....but this was when all the "new" full depower bars and all that came out, so having the safety of being able to sheet all the way out to no power was hot.....!

I just never use it anymore, and the kites fly kinda shitty all the way depowered when sheeted out too far anyways...
Same as always, tech is always advancing...

Too bad we couldn't lease kites, then trade-em in for upgrades when the tech advances.... Razz

The lender wouldn't be able to get any return unless the lease was like $500 / year. Tech is changing too quick. A two year old kite is worth almost nothing compared to with a new one! Three+ year old well...

I added small zip ties through the line holes on my North Rebel 2007 stopper ball. This made it sticky, so now I have to push with both hands to depower. Never tried it without these... I guess you can rest the bar on the ball without slippage?

In a roe-sham-bo, the French death metal band Gag Ball crushes any stopper ball 100% of the time.

...Postscript; yes, it's raining, what do expect me to post about? One more comment...Anybody reduced to extolling the virtues of zip ties and line holes on any forum, should be reduced to a pile of smoking ruin. But, in a tasteful enough manner to be included in a death metal video. Twisted Evil Okay, I'll give it to you languistic freak, that last outburst was a sentence fragment.

I will not demean myself to address the topic of "resting the bar on the ball without slippage."

I have a wiley modified bar. It's pretty cool. I'd recommend picking up a Slingshot Turbo bar and replacing the pulleys with the slingshot leaders with the velcro loops.

But honestly, the stopper is best to limit the throw on the bar when you let it go. When you put the bar up against the stopper, the kite starts pulling you downwind like a mack truck. Waroos fly best with constant feedback into the bar. All of you are welcome to check out my bar when you get a chance, it's sick! It's part Wiley, part SS Turbo Diesel.

isn't that what a stopper ball would do for me?

I need a way to keep the waroo in the air (and stable) for about 30 seconds while I get into the bindings.

The 07 Waroos fly a bit better against the stopper than the 06... but in gusty wind I still like pushing the stopper far away. The Best bar stopper has enough resitance to keep the bar down when just riding but you can still push away to depower if you need to. Nice feature I think.

If you have some spare $$$ I'd definitely invest in getting a bar with an adjustable stopper ball or upgrading an existing bar. Its a huge benefit.

Toeside transition turn -> pull that stopper way down so the kite is juiced the whole time and downloop the sucker one handed. Drag the other hand in da buttah. Thumb's Up

Oh, sorry, yeah a stopper would be perfect for that.
