Going to take the plunge and take up winging this winter while down in LV.

Looking for recommendations on what mast length to go with? I am happy on the 91cm I ride kite foiling , and my tendency would be to go long. That said I see lots of wingers on 75 and 85cm so must be a reason.

So whats a good mast size for winging in the gorge and LV?

Good to know, curious to understand why wing foils tend to run shorter mast than kite foils?

Wingers don't lean out as much as kiters when going upwind.
Wingers use bigger boards - shorter masts are more responsive with big boards.
Shorter masts are conducive to riding swell - it's better to keep your foil high in the water column when riding swell, deeper down the water is reverse swirling that will impede the glide on a wave.
It's easier to handle a rig with short mast when taxing on land and launching/landing.

Thank you, figured there must be a good reason.

Is there also more stress on a mast with a larger front wing and heavier board?

Maybe reasons to go shorter and aluminum vs. carbon?
