Damn.

that is sick Exclamation

looks like a river session...nice to know if I keep the skim in the car we can have at it w/ no wind.

I am suprised at how much speed they can get for those sliders......speaking of sliders....My roomate and I were in Hatteras three years back and got flooded at our hotel from the recent hurricane and it took all the wind for a couple days, so we bought two cheap-ass wood skims and went for a session in the parking lot with grass trannys, drainage gaps, and a pvc pipe to fully engage the skimmage....then the wind came back Very Happy

Yea, I was also noticing in the vid that most of those guy's skim boards are completely flat and symmetrical. If anyone knows where I can find one of those, I'd really appreciate it. I was just talking to Gene about making a symmetrical skim board, with a touch of wake skate.

wave skimming looks a lot more sick to me. http://exileskimboards.com/html/misc_pages/news/bearded_announce/beardedmov_med.html long intro unfortunately... also, lots of really good videos here: http://www.njskim.com/

i don't think those boards are really flat and symmetrical, i just think they look that way, and dont have much nose rocker.

for boards, i would be inclined to buy from a skim company with lots of models.

http://www.zapskimboards.com/productProBoard.cfm
http://www.victoriaskimboards.com/index2.html
etc...
and you can even buy them all online from places like http://skimshop.com

maybe i'll need to buy a bigger and lighter skim for lightwind nonsense and tricks. lots of options. for high wind, i'd like a longer skim than the windwing model, but same width (i think it is just a zap underneath). that way you can have a wider stance, but still be able to carve edge to edge.

forrest, check these symmetrical things: http://www.skimcity.com/store/home.php?cat=3903 cheap!

I really dig that Nemo Type 3 twin-tip. The large is a little small for my weight though (88 kgs). I like that it's almost a wake skate. Just needs a little bit of concave on the top to assist with kick-flips.

Its interesting about you mentioning a longer board with the same width for light wind, I was just thinking about how fun my skimboard is, but it's too wide/short for my taste (I have the Victoria Foamie Large 49.5x23). I think I'll be on the look out for a narrower/longer skimboard.

I agree, I like watching wave riding just as much, I just thought it was cool that these guys were really pushing the skate aspect. I skateboarded for 16 years so this appeals to me. (I still skateboard when I'm bored but concrete hurts way to much these days.)

Skimboarding is so much fun. If any of you haven't tried it yet, I would highly recommend it!
