Other recommendations for foil lessons? Best place to learn: Jones, Stevenson, Lyle or Event Site? Radio helmets worth it?

A lesson with Joe made a huge difference for me. At Stevenson, with a jet ski and the radio helmets. Huge bang for the buck. We could switch and I could follow and observe from the ski while we talked. Getting out into the wide open and away from other kiters was nice.

Stevenson, on those steady, eastwind days is magic for foiling breakthroughs.

Just remember, they can hear everything you say with those helmets Embarassed

You want steady wind, deep, fairly calm water, and some space.

If you can’t arrange a lesson with Joe and have good beginner gear, Jones is the best. Deep, long sandy beach and no crowds. I learned there easily with no help. Stay away from HR and Lyle. Too shallow and crowded.
I mostly foil at Stevenson now but it’s a point launch so you’ll need a jet ski assist your first few days. Joe can keep an eye on you after your lessons if he’s teaching, otherwise find a friend who can foil to shadow you. They can ride a directional too you and foil your board back if you want to tap out.
