Are those ice bergs? That's insane. Don't get caught between two of those things, unless you want to get crushed to death. |

If they are from Mackite, then they are mini-icebergs on Superior or Huron..
My parents have a place in the U.P. about 10 min from Lake Superior which is killer kiting inthe summer with waves, but in the heart of the winter...there will be 15 foot icebergs all along the shoreline....
doesn't even look like you're still in the Midwest. |

no, I haven't been there before...but there is a river that runs into the lake with huge 50ft. waterfalls,a nd in the winter they are all frozen, huge, and we usually see a bunch of ice climbers..
I was there in August last year, and no joke, there were 4-5 ft. breaking(peeling) waves.. I think I am going to bring the full quiver this time. |

Well, I used to live on the West-side of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin, and the swell there will build when there is wind blowing from the East-side(Michigan-side) of the lake. It creates a huge wind swell all the way across the lake, and when it hits teh Wisconsin side, they break...
There are a few surf-crews in the Milwaukee/Sheboygan area b/c there are jettys and some nice breaks..
When I was in the U.P. it was strange...No wind at all, but huge swell...4-5ft. And I have been up there since a I was a kid and remember days at the lake with large waves and mild wind, maybe 10 knots.. My Dad claims he has been in 13ft swells on Superior back in the day too..
