Been some unusually good west wind winter days at Rufus this year.

Jan 1 - A few of us got out for some up and down fun stuff to start out the year.
Jan 5 - Just got done with a fun short solo session.
Jan 6 - Has potential
Jan 8 - Has potential - forecast for cold outdoor temperature...
Jan 9 - Slight potential
Jan 10 - Has potential
Jan 11 - Looks good (might snow later in afternoon Laughing )
Jan 12 - Too Dang Cold - Maybe look for a snowkite location.

If you're not down south go dig out your drysuit and pm me if you think you might want a riding buddy.

Hey John..

If I were there instead of up here at work.. I'd go kiting. Last night our ambient temperature got to -43 and with the 10 mile an hour wind it ended up being -70.

The arroyo at Rasta is wider if you want to try and turn a rental car around in it.

See you in May

Dan,

Sounds a bit chilly up there.

You missed a fun session today. Me, one other kiter and a windsurfer.

Wind popped up to >50mph (was on my 10m). I was happy to have the windsurfer land my kite. He saved my bacon kinda like when you hauled me out of the arroyo.

It's nice to have fellow water sport enthusiasts who have your back. Makes life a lot more fun.

Does anyone plan on kiting Jan 11 in the gorge? Wind is looking good. Just got in a session 2 days ago so ready to do it again.

Likely to be a few winter kiters out at Event Site if it's decent. Not sure If I will be one of them. Looking at snow at MHM too, though not until the afternoon shift.

I'm probably going to have to skip Saturday. I've got a slight personal injury and a drysuit repair to work out. I'm gonna have to take some time off.

Sorry to hear you're injured.

I highly recommend Jerry of Expressdrysuitrepair in Beaverton. He both repairs, and builds custom dry suits. He has a full in house facility and is a super nice guy to boot.

I already picked up a seal from Immersion Research in White Salmon. Those guys were awesome. They could do the repair work in house, or just sell me the stuff so I can. I opted to do it myself and picked up a spare just in case. They spent the time to talk me through the entire repair process start to finish.

Not just good customer service, but Extremely good local customer service.

Good to know. I use their one piece fleece under my dry suit and really like it. I had no idea they were local. Thanks
