Looking for a light weight top, easy ish to put on over wetsuit and under waist harness to keep the wind from keeping me too damn cold via evaporative cooling on wetsuit fabric, even in a 5/4/3. I tend to get cold even on warmer days from this effect. I prefer a layer without any extra fuzzy whatever that collects water like a sponge. Just a windblock that does not absorb water.

Any leads?

Thanks,
Eric

Looking for a very thin, light weight top without the polypro fuzz on the inside. I do like their top, though. Nice product. I own an orange one. As the air temps warm, I would like a top that only functions as a wind block, though.

Neil Pryde Edge Wind top with Armor Skin
https://www.npsurf.com/products/skin-tops-edge-wind-top

It is super thin and works like a charm.
I wear it over my wetsuit all the time.
When it’s warm you can wear it by itself as a wind blocking rash guard.
Runs small, buy one size larger than you normally wear.
I typically wear a Medium, but for these a Large is good for me.

I guess that is the downside to foiling. You are just standing like a stick.
I know it is magic... Laughing Laughing

Seriously! You are not working nearly as hard as riding a surfboard, or twin tip.

Kind of a mixed blessing? On another note, I am seeing a resurgence of twin tip riding these days. Kinda cool to see some big air boosts again.

Some sticks get air though:

I love that NP wind top, but be aware that they are kinda fragile and usually only last me one season. But still well worth it. They now have a front zip hoody made of the same material.

I get 2-3 seasons out of mine but I go 2 sizes up from what I'd normally wear.

I'm a medium in all NP stuff and use XL for my edge top. I found with the L top I was putting the most wear on it when I was pulling it off, the XL top comes off a lot easier.

My top showed up. I am 6'3" at 185lbs. I ordered the largest they make, XXL, and it fits tightly next to skin. No way it will go over wetsuit though. I am going to keep it and try it under wetsuit, regardless.

Just an FYI . I would say they run 2 sizes small, at least

I think you are underestimating how well these things stretch. Give it a try over the wetsuit and I'll bet you it'll be okay.

I do agree though they run 2 sizes too small to be comfortable. I'm a M and switched from using an L to an XL and am happier now.

Have you considered a splash jacket for paddling. I used to wear layers and layers and I would still get cold (& cold hands). Saw a guy wearing a splash jacket and he said his hands weren't cold. I wear one now and like it in cold weather for the reason you are looking. I now often wear less layers, less neoprene, until needed.
The other thing I started wearing is an impact vest under my full suit. That adds warmth, makes a 3/2, feel like a 4/3. I like the extra padding it gives under the harness.

A kayak top over your wetsuit really warms you up--when you're out of the water. In the water it really doesn't do anything.

I've got an earlier version of this Mystic Windstopper top and it really helps with wind chill. Nice spreader bar hole, velcro adjustable neck and cuffs, bomber construction, roomy and it looks cool.
