Anybody know if the Park at Roosevelt will be maintained this year? I suspect not. I was there a couple of weeks ago. Bathrooms closed, overgrown grass, and no camphost. There were a couple of sanicans and a dumpster, but that was it. Didn't seem like a safe place anymore.

I saw the federal budget proposal from the Whitehouse a while back and it showed huge cuts for any federal land or corps parks (but plenty of $ for mineral and gas exploration). Too bad if Roosevelt is another victim of the cuts. It is rare to have a windy place with grass and shade on the river where you can bring your family and non-kiting/windsurfing friends. It was also a great place for farmworkers to come to and relax/party with their families.

A budget proposal is not the budget.

Congress approves budget proposals. Congress holds the purse strings.

Can we get it there and do an unofficial cleanup? Roosevelt is an awesome kiting spot. Anyone know what hoops we would have to jump through if any?

This is by far a more worthy project for CGWWA than that beach project near Cascade Locks that is damn near impossible to launch from. I use my tent twice each year: Nitinat Windfest and Roosevelt Memorial Day.

False alarm about Roosevelt. The grass is cut. Bathroom and shower still closed, but maybe that will be opened soon.
