Another Slingshot board question?

Hi,new to the forum. I did a search to start off but would like more updated suggestions. I have had a SS pit 5'6" and 2 tyrants . The tyrant 5'11" of 2014 was perfect for all around for me with its squared tail ,could handle lulls fine its snapped .Still have a 2015 Tyrant but I need a newer board and am looking at the Celeritas and the new Tyrant. The Tyrant has gotten even more narrow now and I can't see it for general use at all . I'm both a flat water /bump rider and wave ,180lbs. .Any thoughts on the 2018 Celeritas 5'11" ? is the volume too much ? kites 5-12 mtr.

I'm 6'2" and 185.
My riding style fits your description exactly. 50% gorge, 50% ocean waves.
I have tried 10 surfboards over the past 10 years - by far my favorite was the 5'8" Celeritas for Oregon coast, gorge, and Maui. I own 2 of them (strapped, strapless).
It sounds like a commercial - but this one board does it all.

Can someone explain the practical differences between the Celeritas and Angry Swallow?Slingshot's descriptions for the two boards make them sound super similar, except that the blunt nose on the Angry Swallow makes it easier to maneuver and travel with. Are there tradeoffs to that shape vs. the more traditional Celeritas? Because their marketing makes it sound pretty optimal.

I'm riding mostly on the Central/South coast, still learning how to ride waves currently strapped most of the time on an old 2010 Ben Wilson. I've also got a 5'8'' 2015 Celeritas that can't take straps (big deckpad), which I'm using to try to learn strapless on flat water. I've struggled trying to take that board strapless into the waves at Florence, so in those choppy waves will probably need to stick with straps for a while. For my progression stability and upwind ability are probably super important at this point...just curious to hear some thoughts (the marketing blurbs seem basically useless) comparing those boards.

Since we're discussing boards, I'd also be curious to hear folks' thoughts on Slingshot's TT line, where I might be upgrading soon too. I've been riding forever on an Axis Liberty 150, which has been fantastic for progression. But I'm starting to think that, though it goes upwind like a champ, such a big board might be holding me back as I work more on big jumps and basic tricks. For Slingshot boards it seems like the best choice might be between the Misfit and Vision - any thoughts comparing the two? I'd still like something that goes upwind well, but that also has really good maneuverability and pop.

BTW since it usually matters I'm 5'10'' 185 lbs. Thanks for your thoughts on this, it seems so hard to find good advice! Of course I'll look to demo if I can, but that can be tough to arrange sometimes for those of us not in HR. And tough to interpret given variable wind/wave conditions.

Just to add to the confusion, the Screamer is a really fun board for the Gorge & coast as well. Ride it even shorter, maybe 5’4” or 5’6”, not sure what sizes it comes in.

Screamer and Angry Swallow (porno names!) are surfboards with long drawn out rail shapes that are good for straight line tracking and longer drawn out turns and transitions.
The AS is the higher volume of the 2. Not very popular in the high winds of the gorge.
Guys who like to make rapid smooth turns in swell and waves love the Screamer. You can really rail into a turn at high speed under full power. Tracks well in chop.

The Celeritas or new version Celero will feel a little bit looser when tracking upwind but it will also be easier to slash a wave and IMO can rail a turn almost as well as the Screamer. I find I can turn, swerve, and slash much easier on the Celeritas than the other boards. Relaxed downwind swell riding - la de la.... and it can also handle high speed powered up slashing and carving.

The Screamer wants to go in a straight line and takes power and speed to get the most out of it.

i prefer the Tyrant for the coast if the waves are overhead (mine is 2017)

in the gorge swell the 2006 5'5 Slingshot SRT doesnt seem too old (i only bust it out if its really windy) Laughing

the butter bar wake skim is also a hoot on marginal wave and swell days

In waves or chop I’ll use my strapless 5’8 Celeritas over my strapped 5’6 which is a lot smaller. Rode a 5’10 once and it’s too big and light wind oriented for me at 170 lbs. The 5’6 is great for powered riding/jumping. I have a 2013 5’11 Tyrant I love for down-the-line at the coast but it’s not great underpowered. It’s 19” wide which I think is part of its difference. Screamer 5’4 and 5’6 and Angry Swallow 5’4 are stable, wider turning, upwind machines. I’ve used my Converter (5’4 Angry Swallow with foil tracks) without the foil and can’t tell any difference despite the open tracks. I’m thinking I would be fine with just it for point sailing and light wind days, and the Tyrant for bigger days. It worked well when I learned to foil last summer. Windance was blowing them out at Xmas...

I'm 170 and 5'8 celeritas is about right. I generally ride the celeritas strapless in small to medium swell at the gorge and coast, and I find it works well with light wind. I also have a 5'4 screamer which is a good size for me. I prefer the screamer the screamer in rough conditions, bigger swell and more powered up. I also usually ride the screamer with straps, partly because of the conditions I usually choose for the screamer and partly because I feel like I can make more powerful turns with the straps and the screamer rewards that style of riding.

Both the Celeritas and Screamer are great boards for the gorge though and I think you would be happy with either.

6'3" at 190 lbs and another vote for 5'8" Celeritas. My 2014 still going strong! It's the ripping "all mountain ski" of the kitesurf world. And, unlike LDHR, the shaper is 1.3 miles from my house...
