Sat Sep 15, 18 11:01 am Foil board size question |
|
|
So I picked up kite foiling this last summer and had a quick question on board and it's maneuverability of it. So I weigh a scrawny 130, bought the SS mast program with the alien air. I can literally stand on the water for a few seconds with the kite down, serious buoyancy with that board. I see a lot of you just carving the heck out of these small boards. I only got to gybe transitions on water but feel I am ready for a board swap. Is there is big difference in how the say 3'6 dwarfcraft turns to an alien air? Thanks |

The shorter boards/Dwarfcraft are really fun. I learned on the Alien Air and just switched to the 3’6 DC and it wasn’t that difficult of a transition. Did I mention you can fit them in your carryon when you fly? |

Worth buying one at full bill IMO. Just a great foilboard.

The 4'6" DC is also worth a look. Much more manageable than the AA, especially as the wind picks up. |

I went AA-->46DC-->36DC
I'd advise skipping the 46DC from the AA
The 36 DC is a delight. The 46 DC is very nice, but was not a significant difference from the AA for me.
My $0.02; your mileage may vary

I ended up getting the 3'6 2019 for $599. Thank you Kite-line.com! The colors are better but not worth the $175 I could of saved getting the 18 off of Eric! |

Quick question, Should I still start with the foil all the way in the back mounted position on this new board? |

Really depends on the foil you are using. 633/GW 91 yes, all the way back. 590/GW101 about 2-4 cm forward, etc. |

I am using just the basic hover glide foil, I am assuming all the way back with that one? The carbon will probably be my next purchase. |

Thanks Eric, will do! Excited to get out on this board. Hopefully this will lead me to sell my AA. |
