Looking for a kite spot that won't see too much firework action this Wednesday? Somewhere on the coast maybe? I was thinking Fort Stevens Lot B may work but don't know if people don't go there to shoot fireworks as well?

I had a dog that was traumatized by fireworks.
Every 4th was hours of trauma for her.
We tried the coast a few times (Manzanita, Lincoln city).
It was the worst.... redneck do-it-yourself light off fireworks until midnight.
Fireworks are sold everywhere along the coast.
State park may have regulations against - maybe call the park and ask?
Are you asking about day time or night time?
I wish someone made noise canceling headphones for dogs.

You might try Stevenson - after the fire last year I doubt anyone will be lighting their own fireworks on a dry windy day.

Hood river is ok during the day - it will be crowded but you can head up to Mt. Hood campground for the evening to get away.

Seems like the official word is no fireworks in Oregon State Parks or beaches but don't know how enforceable that is on July 4th: https://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=visit.dsp_faq. Will probably give them a call later today - my thinking was to enjoy the day there and head out back to Portland around 9p so that most of the fireworks shooting will be happening while I drive (slower than usual) back home.

I’m going to suggest to some high cbd Chronic Tonic, a lovely tincture that does wonders for canine anxiety, without the harsh doggie downers. Available at Margie’s Pot Shop in Bingen. Probably available in most WA weed stores.

It’s a staple in our pet care medicine cabinet. Gives pain relief and takes away anxiety without incapacitating the dog.

I hate the Fourth of July. We live close to an outdoor shooting range, and my dogs don’t even blink at gunfire, but the week of the fourth sucks for them.

A mug of tea with some Chronic Tonic is nice after a long day of kiting. Perfect for sore muscles and pain. Might even relieve the annoyance of fire works.

Confirmed over the phone that fireworks are prohibited without exception in state parks but there's always a risk of someone violating that policy.

Hood River is another good option as long as i get out of town by 7pm since i think that when they start preparing the show.
I guess the park by the marina beach is going to be pretty packed with people all day on July 4th though?

-- this sounds like a good plan. you will also miss the traffic.
there's a nice rest area at the crest of the coast range on highway 26 in Seaside. we often van camp there on the way to the coast. sunset rest area.

Good idea with delaying the drive back by stopping at the rest area!

Cannon beach doesn’t allow fireworks and enforces it because of the birds on the rocks. Manzanita and Seaside are war zones. Hopefully if you camp in some of the fire prone areas of Mt Adams or Hood nobody should be lighting up especially after last fall
