Just wanted to throw a note out there that the CGKA and the CGWA (along with the SUP community) are actively working together with Oregon State Parks on a plan for how to improve launch access, safety and all around user friendliness at Viento State Park.

Bart(CGWA) and Pepi(CGKA) are working hard on a plan that can make some significant improvements.
Kiteboarding Goals -
launch and set up access for both east and west winds. Reduced snaggage from roots and nasty bushes. Pumping areas with space for running out lines.
(*Shoreline rocks will be for a later discussion, so gotta be tough)
SUPers -
to have easier access to the water away from the kiters and windsurfers.
Wider pathway for transporting boards and staging area for group downwinders.
Windurfers -
Better rigging and launching area at the center of the Viento launch and better ground cover for friendly gear rigging.

Overall improvements will be focussed primarily on increasing space for each watersports user group to have enough area for rigging, staging launches and getting off the beach quickly/safely.
For kiteboarding this will always be a bit of an advanced intermediate launch, but with improvements to the area, this will become a lot more friendly area for 'park and play' kiting instead of just 'downwinder' sessions.

Stay posted and we will update on the clean up date, as well as specific needs we may come up with in regards to clean up details.

Thank you
Your local CGKA Board Members

That's awesome. Can we please remove the poison oak as part of the improvement?

I am not sure if CGKA is set up to send out an email to all email addresses in it's database, but a reminder in early January would probably generate additional revenue. I just renewed my membership, but I have not joined in a few years. A reminder sent to me would have increased revenue in the years I skipped joining.
