Shitty rendering but you get the idea. I stole the bindings from
some online store.
They're symmetrical, with bindings set more or less 50/50
52" long x 8.75 wide with flip tips at both ends for riding blind.
Unhook, go big, cross out, land blind.
I wonder what Cory would think? |

Well, I know the guy that invented kiting in the gorge used water skis. I don't know his name. :\ I assume this is who you're talking about?
You could be on to something here, kite skis might attract more wind surfers looking for a lamer version of kiting.  Just kidding! I actually think it might be fun to try, along with an articulating harness hook that could move toward one hip or the other. The Dakine Pyro does this when you don't get it nice and tight. |

but harnesses are for sissies.
unhook and strong arm it like a real water skier.
especially while you're throwing down.
better be working on that if you plan on hitting the slider.

These are much shorter than jump skis.
I might not have gotten the scale quite
right on that.
I'm wanting to do more tricks and if I
feel confident enough on them, try them
in waves.

Cory Roeseler for sure. I was pondering this same thing over the weekend when I found my VHS copy of Awake...that there's probably a ton of kiters out there who have no idea who someone as pivotal as Lou Wainman is.
I'd definitely advise catching up on some history to those who have entered the sport in the last two years. It's interesting shit. High, Awake, Unhooked and the SS Vid are good places to start.

Nice compromise between jumpers and trick skis.
Never tried trick skis, but makes sense to try behind a kite.

I'm familiar with Goode. Their hard boots are kinda trick.
And their carbon skis are legendary. I wonder how their
doing since there is a carbon shortage.
I actually built some small skis a few years ago and used
an inline skate shell for the boot. The skis were too small
for behind a kite. Trick water skiers use one ski like that,
and twirl around a lot. I'm looking more for a contemporary
2 ski slope-style ride. I think the flip tips might enable that.

Yea, I know about the history of this sport, but I'm really bad with names. I wasn't planning on hitting the slider hooked in either, I like my spine and rib cage! 
I'd love to get my hands on Unhooked. To be honest, I didn't even realize there was an Unhooked 1 for some reason, maybe because I never saw mention of it. Just looked online and it's like 36 bucks, anyone know where I can find it cheaper?
Unhooked 2 and Metropolis are my all time favorite kite vids. Autofocus is pretty good too! |

What would be interesting is hitting the water on a pair of K2 pontoons or the reverse cambered "armada's". |

BTW. I ride a pair of 165 K@ AK Launchers when i snow kite. Short & Fat.
I ski powder on my 193 Dynastar Proriders....

your idea makes more sense is what I meant to say
Those short trick skis make me think snowblades
more of a novelty up at the mountain

sorry I misunderstood.
If these work well enough in light winds I could see
making some shorter ones. Flip tips will be a key
feature I think. |
