What was it last year? It is their call and they do have expenses. Would you rather them just close off the event site?
If $70 is too much for you then why don't you split it with someone? |

Would be interesting to know how much money they make off the site. I would guess its a real money maker for the port. Nothing wrong with making money, but at $70 and $100 I'm going to start demanding more amenities. |

I'm sure a significant portion goes towards insurance. . .
Bottom line it is their land and they can do whatever they want with it. With such demand, well, they kind of have a monopoly.
Demand two-ply t.p. for the bathrooms |

Really, you spend thousands on gear and beer, vehicles, gas and other crap in your life and $70 is too much to help to keep access open in the gorge where access is very limited? |

I would hope that development of more parking space will be covered in the cost. Like knotwindy said you'll spend much more on gas money just driving to Hood River so the $70 for a parking permit in a prime spot in one of the best kiteboarding places in the world is not too much in my opinion. I wonder if they'll raise the daily fee as well - if not than you might be better off paying $5/day if you only kite at Event Site now and then on weekends.
Edit: just saw that daily access is $8, i was actually hoping they'd raise it to $10 - that might discourage some people who just picnic there and take up limited grass space while there's a public beach just next to Event Site that they can use. _________________ My pictures of the beautiful PNW

I really wish the port/city would allow overnight parking for campers in the grass/gravel lot next to the event site. _________________ Jeff |

Is a pass vehicle-specific?
How long is over length? I have a Class C RV that's about 24.5' long that I'd like to bring down occasionally. |

Just tell them you only have a credit card and no cash. Maybe they can take some of the money and enter the turn of the century and start taking plastic. Just what I want to do bring cash so it's there to get stolen!! If my pass works to get over the bridge and they have no problem charging me why can't they just charge my account for the event site! _________________ Take a breath; inhale |

Because they make so little money off the event site, the 2-3% credit card cuts into their revenue. Plus, they have the large empty field next to the parking lot, its been undeveloped and cost them so much money. Boy would it be nice with the dirt lot was turned into RV and camping , plus parking. |

Anyone remember that one season years ago when they offered overnight parking on the grass next to the marina restrooms and the DMV? I don't remember the year or the exact deal but I've always wondered why they only did that one summer. Anyone here remember? Seems like maybe 20~ years ago. (?) Or is my dementia acting up again? _________________ Slack Lines Suck! |
