They amended the bill. I have not had time to understand the updated bill.

As a kayaker I will still be paying for the Marine Board to deal with idiots on the Clackamas River during the summer. Zero benefit to this person.

You don't use public launches to access the river?
You don't park in the river access parking lots?
You won't call emergency services if you or someone in your party needs rescue or emergency first aid?
And the policing of the idiots - you don't benefit from that?
I read all of these services will benefit from the fees.

You don't use public launches to access the river? No
You don't park in the river access parking lots? If I do I pay for a parking pass. $$
You won't call emergency services if you or someone in your party needs rescue or emergency first aid? Not in 20+ years, you kayak with good people.
And the policing of the idiots - you don't benefit from that? Nope, I stay away from them. I kayak more challenging rivers than they would never attempt.
I read all of these services will benefit from the fees. The services would, I would not. The services that would get the so called fees have not been fully determined. Once you go down this water road of fees, It will expand like a cancer to all the other sports one at time. An excellent way for the Marine Board to get what they want. Divide and Conquer. Very Happy

Effectively, the old bill is replaced by this one -

https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2017R1/Downloads/ProposedAmendment/9756

Read this as the new proposed bill. And what do you know? Our old friend "EMERGENCY CLAUSE" is back. So this law would again take effect immediately upon it's passage.

"This 2017 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2017 Act takes effect on its passage.”

Hopefully, enough kayakers, SUP'ers, Windsurfers, Kiters, and all others that enjoy the waters of the state stand up to this in the upcoming meeting.

This is your government at work. Limiting, charging fees, obstructing etc. As far as I know governments are instituted to protect our inalienable liberty and not to steal it. We should not ask them not to vote for it, we should order them not to do it. We are the boss, they are our employees. Let's not be lazy. Everybody should call their rep and order them to vote no. And tell them if they act disobediently we will put someone else in their place when next election comes around. And don't remember that and do it. Don't be sheeple. Be American, raise your heads.
