I'm in oahu and met some newish kiters. I know i was kiting over reef last time I went to mokolea. Were staying in kailua. They don't want to make the trip to mokolea if they have to kite over coral. I don't remember if there were areas that were just sand at mokolea or if the whole area was reef? Any info appreciated. I don't know the beef, but, I do apreciate rons insights he has given in the past.

Isn't Moks more of a summer spot anyways? I don't think the winds start there yet.

Kited all over the Mok's and the only sand I saw was firmly fixed to the shore & launch area. All Coral once you get out past 2+ feet deep. Tell your bro's to sack up and shred. Smile

Finally had a great day. Met Top Hat on the beach. Heck of a nice guy. He has a surf shop in Haleiwa ( Hawaii surf & sail) with a gourmet sandwich shop next door (kua aina sandwich shop). Few plugs there.
These guys really have a system with their lineup. I didn't want to mess with it. So I just went downwind to the next brake. The coral is a bit closer to the suface on this brake. Kiting over coral adds some pucker factor.
Headed home tomorrow. Get some snow kiting this weekend
