Snowbike looks rad and thinking I'll eventually get one to replace my sled for backcountry access. Curious about the board being attached that low though, have you ridden with the board attached in deep powder yet, and does the front of the board create any drag in the snow?

I did snap a board in half in some powder but that was more because I was messing around when stringy got his camera out.

I originally had the board on the left side which is the side I am more comfort laying the over when turning. The board snapped because I was trying to lay the bike over to drag the bars through the snow.

I have since moved the board to the right side and try to not play around when hauling gear. Since I did that I have not had any problems.

When normal riding in deep powder where you are mostly upright I have had no issues. I did add a nylon strap to help support the tip of the board.

Stringy was looking at ways to mount the board horizontally but I have nothing taken my bike to him so he can design something up.

OK good to know, I like playing in the deep stuff and laying down some turns on the sled, and most of the time still have my board with me, I'm sure I'd want to do the same on a snowbike!

It would definitely be more ideal if the board could be attached more centered on top of the tunnel to keep it out of the way, but most current snowmobile racks are designed to attach to the sides. Doesn't seem impossible though!

For anyone that is interested; the snowbike worked out great last year. I rode and kited several days locally, made a few trips to Idaho and even made it out to the Big horns for a 6 or 7 day trip. When there is no wind, biking is just as fun as kiting.

As there are more kits out there prices for used kits are dropping. I have seen complete set ups in the low to mid $5,000.00 and older Timbersled kits going for as low at $2500.00. I just sold my 2015 kit for $3000.00.

I know of 6 guys that will be rocking snowbikes this year with a few more on the fence. 3 of the guys are sled converts.

Hope to see more snowbikes out there packing kite gear this year.

Looks real good.

I'm sure to run in to you and Pete again in the Simcoes.

Just need to figure out my setup this year.

I need to get on it. The Bighorn Snowkite event is next month and my sled is still in AK.

Looks like it, I'm off rotation on 11/29 and should be down here on the 30th. Last year I stayed in Lovell and drove up to the gate everyday I wanted to kite.

Didn't need a sled but was envious of the people who had them.

Snowbike update.

The bike continues to serve as a viable mode of transportation for snow kiting adventures.

We have been pushing the bikes more and more and they continue to work well.

Out at the Rodeo last weekend I towed a skier several miles to the kite spots and did some riding double to assist downed kiters.

I even pulled a skier to the top of glide hill for a flight.

looks like snow bike market is growing. winter X games now showcasing events.
I've only got a couple of rides under my belt with my snow bike, but I can say its not a bummer if I ever get skunked snow kiting now. the journey to POA is a much better experience on a snow bike. I spend quite a bit of time on my mountain bike all year long and jumping on this bike was easier than I thought.

That was a different situation and different scenario.

I am not towing any buddies up to Indian Rock or MSH; let alone a random guy I never met. It would be a big pain in the butt.

I would not expect that some random guy would take time out of his play time to taxi me anywhere for my convenience.
