Hi Cathy,
I have spent some time kiting in Portugal, one of the better spots is Guincho beach in Cascais. Very windy during the summer months. I believe there is some kiting near Algarve as well.

ain't bad in October, warm temps, 50% windy 100% wavy, mind the clean ups
Peniche region, central coast: Supertubos, Ericeira, Baleal, Obidos lagoon... endless breaks.

gets kinda big: lagoon for mortals, TOH rivermouth for the dead, nazare for the professionally cray-cray
kited 4 sessions in 9 days, surfed 12-15 sessions. good wine and food, affordable.

I just looked at the West Coast Campers site. Those camper vans look awesome and they're affordable. Has anyone used them before? Would that be a good way to travel the coast and kite or what?!
I have 4 weeks and want to do an epic trip with some kiting... thinking about Morocco too.

Thank you kiter/travelers for your valuable advice and experience!

Saw some Europeople in a couple of those vans I think, looked ok.
Keep in kind vehicle break ins and casual thefts are among the hazards of Portugal.
So if all your stuff is in the vehicle all the time, be careful.
I was with a group of friends and stayed in a villa near the WSL contest going on.
We made it from peniche up to barra and spots between in day trips -plenty for one trip but lots of spots to check down ericeira and guincho way if we hit it again.
With camper vans we could have covered more ground but hit the sweet spot and had very comfortable living, so no complaints. One of best trips ever for me.

Kited in both places (Portugal and Morocco). The southern part of the Portuguese coast has a lot of spots. I looked for kites as I drove along the coast. Scored sessions in places I don't know the names of... Yeah, a camper van would be perfect. Lots of places to camp. Never had a problem with theft but never left anything valuable in the car when I was kiting. Head down to Spain cuz there's tons of places along that coast too.
Western Sahara ( Morocco) as many on this site have been and know, is killer! Warm water in summer and butter smooth lagoons or waves along the shore. More consistent wind then Portugal. Cheaper ( although Portugal isn't expensive along the coast).
Have fun! I'd love to spend a month hanging there!
