Might be heading down to Paige, UT for a 4-5 day lake powell trip.
75 foot house boat, x 35 mastercraft.
Just wondering what anyones experience has been down there for kiting?
I know the wind can blow hard there.
Just checking to see what you think. |

Have not kited but have spent a fair amount of time on the lake.
You might get lucky but would not count on kitable wind and when it blows it tends to be erratic, gusty and influenced by the surrounding terrain. |

I was there for a houseboat trip June of 2015. A front moved thru and we had winds up to 40-50 kts. It was brief, gusty, variable in direction, and there was lots of stuff entrained in the air. The winds were light the rest of the week.
I think you have to get really lucky to score a kite session in that region. |

I am pretty sire that the last time I was there is was not allowed. Not too windy on the Page side. The north end of the lake at what used to be Hite marina is much better. Afternoon thermals blow upstream everyday. Some good sports the on the east side. _________________ Ozone Reo's. C&k Beach Boy Service, Windsurfing Waikiki, Hawaiian Windriders, NSRN. |

Same experience like everyone else - I docked mostly the south side of the lake (Wetherill Canyon, Cathedral, Rainbo Bridge Canyons). I have done this in May and September. The general experience was that daytime winds were light, and evening thermals were gusty (often very gusty) and not very organized. It may be doable, on a good day with a drift launch from the boat, ideally with a spotter in a jetski. |
