Would be interested to hear folks pros/cons on this topic.
Coming from windsurfing, the three strap setup is familiar.
thanks,
Bob

Do you plan on boosting the foil? Then 2 straps.
Simple cruising? Then 1 or zero.
These thoughts of course are IMHO. But for my cruising, carving style I only have the FF (NSI hook) mostly for assistance with my water-starts. Someday soon I will ditch all hooks & straps. Or have a separate setup for boost days (like Tak).

That said, if you're planning on full-on race then 3 straps is what I was seeing at the Crissy Field SF Yacht Club high speed foil stuff.

Just learning to start, then freeriding, then jumping eventually.
Not interested in racing. Is the three strap setup primarily used for racing?

Will definitely use the foot hooks - I want to get the heck away from all that hardware when I fall.

I've seen foilers go with one front position (most of them), two positions, and strapless. I think you should set it up for one front position for now and it will become clear once you try it as it is more personal preference. most free riders are using one front foot position.

Just ordered a pair of foot hookers from NSI. Will try these out on my surfboard since I don't have a foilboard yet.

1 for strapless simplicity
2 for all around riding control and ease of use
3 for working on foiling foot transitions

Going to test these out on my trusty Mako Duke tomorrow.
I don't use the rear footstrap much except when jumping.
Hoping that the front foot hooker will make the jibe footwork easier.
Maybe a Rooster day?

Tried out the foot hookers today at Wunderbar. Had front and back foot hookers on my Ocean Rodeo Duke surfboard. They worked great but I was surprised how "unstrapped" the board felt compared to my previous setup of very loose foot straps. Jibing was easier with the foot hookers. The foot hookers, being hard plastic inside, are not as comfortable to ride with as straps, but they do give a nice, minimalistic connection to the board. I did some chop hops and a couple small jumps - no problem to stay attached to the board. My compliments to Stringy and NSI for bringing these to market.
