Headed to floras lake this week from Portland. What's the preferred road to take west from highway 5? Last edited by wannabekiter on Sun Jul 10, 16 7:49 pm; edited 1 time in total |

After driving 2 straight days from montana. I like to relax at 7 feathers for a day, then backtrack a few miles to roseburg and take that highway over to Bandon. You can always hit the 101 wherever u want but further south is a little less congested then lincoln city or even florence turnoff |

If you travel thru Weedsport, beware of Barney Fife. The Weedsport Police are short on revenue and long on folks passing thru--sorta like some infamous spots in Baja. They'll give you a ticket for anything they can. |

Damnit it Wannbe. Did you grab our potential reservation? See you there! Let's have a couple Coca-Colas some evening. By "Coca-Colas", I mean beer and by "evening" I mean pretty much whenever. |

Drop by RV-5 for a Toko-Smoka, Coca-Cola or a Double Shot Latte (yes I have a barista in my trailer).
Wind will be here today so get ready.

Hey Deminimis, I am leaving tomorrow morning early 16th (unforeseen circumstances need me to return home) I have this site reserved until the 25th, If you talk to Mary she might let you move over.
The campground host is amazing in that she allows overflow camping everywhere in the park. This is such a wonderful place. _________________ It's all good |

Thanks Allen. I think we can beat our spot. Come over for a beer! I'm beat to shit from my AM kookiness, so time to fire the grill and imbibe. |

South coast tips -
Never miss an opportunity for the famous hot dogs at Langlois Market. The specialty is sweet sausage with honey mustard and pickles. It is my lunch break spot whenever kiting at Floras. |

How to get west --
One of the legendary roads of Oregon is Bear Camp Road - it is a road that every true Oregonian must at least traverse once. And it is as stunning as advertised...
When traveling to the South Coast you do have the opportunity to conveniently check this off the bucket list. It is best done when going from east to west so you get the ocean at the end. Starting on Bear Camp Road in late afternoon and completing in early evening allows you to make the trek just after the last raft outfitters have finished running there shuttles.
Don't drive this road at night.
Do your research on this road before taking it. |

Well, we pulled out Saturday AM. My guess was that if it was going to blow at all, it would be in the afternoon. Had to leave by Noon, or shortly after, (to catch a band I wanted to see back in TD), so things weren't looking too promising. Was it the right call, or did it become one of those epic days that you're likely to discuss over beers for years to come?
Thursday and Friday were a blast. I'm now molting (the sun screen on my face washed off, it seems). |

Hey it blew good 12m until 3 pm. You should have stayed. Loved the butter water on the north end. Going back in a few weeks |

We were watching that 13 just hanging out there in the AM. Sounds like it stayed about the same for the rest of the day. Wouldn't have minded pumping up my 14 with that new pump, but worked out. |
