Recently got back from a 2 weeks of hanging in equatorial heat down in the islands nation of Kiribati. Mostly did a bunch of surfing and fishing, but I did bring a couple of kites in case the wind came up. It was all lagoon kiting as the wind was too offshore for riding in the surf. This spot was walking distance from where we stayed, but there was incredible flat water spots accessible from the boat.

Fishing was incredible with a list of species caught by crew members: Giant Travalley up to 50 lbs, Bluefin Travalley, Yellowfin Tuna, Barracuda, Sweet Lips, Skipjack, Bonefish, White Mackerel, and some other rockfish of unknown name. Most of the fish
were caught trolling to and from the surf breaks, but the bonefish were cast to on the lagoon flats.

Surfing was good, but not great as most of the spots were at the reef passes and were subject to currents with the ebb and flood of the tides. Winds could also be uncooperative as there were many rain squalls which would change wind directions and velocities. Did get some epic left handers a couple of days at the slack high tides and when the swell was long period and clean.
