Fri Feb 05, 16 7:24 pm About Icaraizinho in Brazil |
|
|
Icaraizinho is the nick name for the kite spot at Icarai do Amontada. Icaraizinho is a remote authentic quite village, typical to north Brazil. Getting to Icaraizinho take some time, due to unpaved roads, probably that's why Icaraizinho kept its quite and remote atmosphere. Kitesurf options are at the upwind side that include flat shallow water in the reef protected bay or the downwind side. The beach in the bay is wind sheltered.
The wind blows and at 24-28 knots at season, and often go above 30 knots. Wind direction side shore to side onshore. The wind is lighter in the morning gets stronger and gustier in the afternoon. In Icaraizinho, there are lovely bungalow Pousadas , kitesurfing clubs and services. If you want to kite in front your Pousada, pick the last one downwind of the village, or rent a house close to the kite spot.
There are flights directly from Miami to Fortaleza, 190 km form Icaraizinho.
There's a website http://www.icaraizinhobrasil.com with a lot of Pousadas, Kiteclubs, etc.
I'm the owner of http://www.hulahulabrazil.com and we can help with more information. |

I highly recommend a trip to northern Brazil. Just wanted to be honest with our reports. The surf from Cumbuco to Jeri is smallsville. Very similar to 4-5 ft summer swell on the Oregon coast. Only a bit different in that the waves form close to the beach. Downwinders are amazing and buggy rides super cheap in Cumbuco. more expensive as you head north. Our best wave riding was in Tabia to Percuru. I was lucky to get some over head surf at a reef break off shore. Secret spots 1,2 and 3 (Tabia)where hitting during a 8 ft swell. I would try to stay in Tabia. Did hear some recent stories of kiters having all there gear and money stolen at gunpoint in one of the only Tabia Hostles. If you want big waves try north coast Peru. Pacasmyo! |

Former Gorge Animal owner Les (Lester Polyester) has a kiting resort halfway between Fortaleza and Jericoacoara. Haven't been yet but Windski has. Les was just up here picking up new Slingshot Waves and his website is:
