Sun Jul 03, 05 11:42 pm How about a caption contest for this one... |
|
|
Went down to Sand Lake for some "brawt-brawt" and ended up getting some good wind to go with all the gas fueled fun... Now what happens when you mix one kiteboarder and 10,000 ATV heads?

fo' - I think after riding around with 10k drunken crazy people on quads in a bunch of dunes where you can't see what's coming over the next hill, following a few waves up the beach in light wind felt pretty mild on the risk factor. your just jealous you weren't skimmin along in that 2" butter water.
btw, there is a bit of forced perspective going on in those photos, my kite was never closer than 100ft to anyone, and 99% of the time I was out in the ocean... these were just the pics that turned out because I was close enough that you could see the quads and bikes too (whole point of this post.)
now go back to your chop pond.

We have protected coves with arces and acres of dead flat glass these little low points protect them,,,
SWEET flat water,, although this season has sucked,,,almost no ridable wind,,,
So Yeah,,,I'm a bit testy (jealious,,what ever,,,
don't change nothing though,,,you're two inches from getting pitched for what??
For what?
FOR WHAT?
exactly,,,100 yards of butter
Nice clear thinking on your part
regards
I'm going kiting,,,fuck the crowds I'm hungry

dude, my board/fins were grounded several times... I know how to ride through it. There are guys on the Oregon Coast that ride their boards from their setup point 200ft from the water across the sand. That's what massive unpopulated beaches and perfect wind give you confidence to do.
Is it stupid and adding risk? Yes.
But I think as you have often brought up, this whole sport is risky... that's part of what makes it fun. So if I risk a good sand blast for some sweet butter, oh well. Nothing like seeing sand in your rooster tail.
...and I am 10x more scared out of my shorts on an average Gorge day anyway. Especially when your launching lit on a 7m over rocks, with devil winds and gusts 50% higher than the average wind speed. Yikes.
Oh well, have fun today fo'.
Btw, great captions so far! I think Karl's underwear one especially...

It's all good Dax,,
In fact,,,I think you guys up in the gorge deserve some sort of safety award...
All things considered I'm amazed at your safety record.
That's one expert only place you've got and I know you must have many.. many visitors who just have no clue as to how MAX that river is...
So,,,acccept my kudos for staying alive...
Good work,,
And yeah,,,I wish I had that coast closer...
Regards
fokiten,,
I'm out of here,,,mothers grab your babies I'm kiting here,,MOVE if got a problem,,,THIS IS MY FUCKING BEACH...LOL
Hope I get some...

hey Fo...
Where do you live? I know it may be too much to see the man behind the mask and all, but this is really making me curious. BTW, are the WW kites turning out to be what you expected? I've been testing gear like crazy this year and finally made a choice...the raps are coming in next week!
have a good one!
PS...just PM me your answer on the kites...I don't want to cut in on Phil here or start a debate on gear with other flamers

yeah dax that was VERY IRRESPONSIBLE. you NEVER see any of the oregon coast regulars ride in shallow water like that. remember, you will be 100% safe if you stay 100 feet from shore.
if you really want to be safe, you gotta go to where there are dust devils and rocky launches. go inland.
**stay away from the beach. it's too dangerous***

Hey Fo, I have asked the same ? to you as did Colby regarding where you kite at. I got no responce at all on your location. Maybe you could tell us the state that you ride in and we can go from there?? Surely you could tell us the state! There must be more than one spot to ride in your state, right? Sound like a plan?
Hit us back!

Hint Mike: I'm going to Fo land. I know I'll see him there. I'll be able to tell who he is by the ranting and swollen comma finger...
