Looking for some friendly advice. Vancouver Island kiter/surfer going to be in Portland for a few days end of Oct for a work conference. Debating whether or not it's worth trying to chase some wind on the coast. We kite through the winter at home, but it's infrequent ... we have to get lucky with fronts passing through etc. Is it similar there in late Oct? Wondering what the wind probabilities are for Manzanita, Lincoln City, Ft Stevens, Westport WA at that time of year? (I know the surf potential already, that may make it worthwhile in itself)
My options are: fly in / fly out, get home quick and chase it!
Fly in, rent a car, take a half day trip if I can sneak away from work.
Drive down, hopefully luck into a session on way there or back.
Whaddya think? Any suggestions or advice?

If you have an Ikitesurf account you can access their site history statistics.
Even though some wind meters are better positioned for wind than others (Roads end meter is a little sheltered), a comparison over time paints a pretty good picture of your relative odds for a good session throughout the season.

Manzo should blow today. Or you could hit Rooster for some river action.

Thank you for replies. Sounds like it's worth a go. Get lucky and kite....or probably go surf if not. See you out there eh.
