Had a couple of grey whales come up under me while foiling Roads End last weekend - could see their big eyes - cruised back at a safer distance with the gopro turned on and got this shot - hard to hold it all together on the foil

How's the SP working out with the Slingy Foil? What did you have to do to reinforce and seal up the mounting holes?

I have mine mounted on a LF Twinskim which you can just safely drill through now but it would be nice to have the option of riding it with straps.

I mounted my Slingy on a Whip which I was going to sell cheap anyway. Then I strengthened it with glassing in 4 each 1/4" X 1/2" strips of wood, and a layer of glass. Still light. Fun ride... but I'm a rooky

Dude! don't say that, looked down and was horrified was gonna shave some barnacles off Willy and his pal. Amazing how all the oxygen gets sucked out of ya - as you are counting the seconds tic tic tic

Stringy added a square some reinforcing fiberglass (think that was it - will ask)
doesn't seem to be taking on water

Nice shots! I almost ran into 2 in Seaside today. Right outside the break but seemed to be playing. Floating in the prebreaking waves, crazy.

Been lots of whale encounters lately around here. We were kiting remote beaches south of us two weekends ago and my kiting partner was dropping into a bowly left and one surfaced right at the bottom of the wave. Nothing he could do to avoid a collision and he crashed right into the side of the beast. He literally bounched off it, crashed his kite and lost his board. I got to see the whole thing go down as I was slightly down wind and headed towards shore also. As I rode past him, I yelled "Hey, did you see that whale?" His eyes were as big as dinner plates and he didn't answer back!

Shocked
