What is the best way to figure out bike trails in the hood river and southern Washington area? Bought one of the "kissing the trail" books but it doesn't seem to have that many trails.

Cheers

I have like 4-5 different maps from these guys. Good stuff.

A PDX / Gorge bike shop should stock them for the area.

lots of good riding in hood, but if you're looking for something a little closer to PDX, there's some good riding out by larch corrections center north of camas. check out cold creek trail. I've been riding there lately because its closer than HR and it handles rain real good. So does Sandy Ridge.
Here's another resource for you to research on.

Temira has a fairly complete list of the trails and their status at her site.

Powell butte is pretty muddy in the winter but the upper portion is a great view and good for kids. Most of it is closed I think for reservoir building though

some like strava, some hate it, but if you want to see where folks are riding anywhere in the world it works great for that.
Google for "strava heat map" and you will get the idea.
cheers.
