Thu Aug 07, 14 6:54 pm Rufus parking/launch/rigging area? |

Why do people insist on parking in the lower area where many of us rig/launch/land our kites? Especially, when there is plenty of parking above? The lower lot was nice and clear when I rigged and launched this morning but when I returned there was barely anywhere to land. Yes, I could of landed at the cove but why should I have to? I've seen lots of "locals" and tourists park down there in the past. What gives? Is it just me who thinks people shouldn't park there. No, I did not say anything to anyone I prefer the passive aggressive approach.
Oh and thank you to one of the parking violators for catching my kite. _________________ Steve

Windsurfers and fishermen have been parking down there since before there was kiteboarding so I wouldn't count on that changing anytime soon. |

Yeah, I also posted on iWindsurf. I'm sure I'll get all kinds of fun and interesting posts from them. _________________ Steve

It is prime parking that is closer to the water and more convenient. |

Yup... Windsurfers like the close access to the water of this location... Easier to haul all their heavy gear down, and fishermen just like to park their RV's here. Good luck getting them to move
Perhaps better to focus on the cove. _________________ Kiting starts at 40MPH |

I was parked next to you just above the "lower area" in the picture. Me and my buddies were asking the same question. And the pictured vehicles were all WSers and kiters - not fishermen. The kiters certainly should know better. Forunately, there was still space to launch and land on the east end of the "lower area" but that is much closer to the tree on the downwind side - a failed launch could result in a shredded kite!
To their credit, there were several WSers parked behind me (toward I-84) who schlepped their gear to the lower area to rig. Kudos to you guys! _________________ Slack Lines Suck! |
