Tue Jul 08, 14 6:08 am Best method on labeling boards |
|
|
I've had good luck with simply using a Sharpie to label my boards with my name and contact information. But those have all been used & older boards. Now that I bought my first new board, I really want to be sure my contact info stays on the board.
What method have you had luck with labeling your board? Sharpie? Stencil and some kind of paint? _________________ CGKA Member |

There have also been vendors who produce tough stick-on labels and have posted to this forum. Give me a second, I'll try a search. _________________ CGKA Member

I use a standard office label maker. You can buy them for under $20. The labels are so plastic that after years they still look brand new. Of course a thief could rip it off, but a sharpie can be overwritten. |

Sharpie can also be removed with your wife's (or your) nail polish remover. _________________ CGKA Member

It is tough to stop thiefs, it is good to help the person who finds your board get back to its owner. |

Sharpie on top of blue painter's tape... super easy to remove when you want. Mine has been going all season without peeling off even a tiny bit (surprisingly). Not the fanciest look if that matters to you, but I bet you could make it kind of small and work it into the design of the board if you want. If someone is going to return your board it doesn't have to be all that big since they will look for it, and the blue stands out so hard to miss. |

Thanks everyone. Looks like the low tech stuff is working best. I think I'll cut out a stencil then use a Sharpie. Keep it simple. _________________ CGKA Member |

For help in getting my boards back in case of being stolen - I sharpie name and number on the top of the fin base that marry to the board or under the foot pad, I also use clear fingernail polish over that to help with wear. You can't see the name and number there when assembled and if I found the board and ownership is in doubt, I'd pull the fin or pad as proof.
I also sharpie name on the board or fin for easy return if someone finds it. It's easily removed with polish remover and Gunk B Gone. _________________ "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence" ~Xenocrates |

sharpie on foam cannot be removed since it soaks in a bit. A thief could always sell it without straps and handle but at least they would get less for it. |

Good point!! - I'm lucky, the Ocean Rodeo pads I use have a plastic platform between the pad and the board. _________________ "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence" ~Xenocrates |
