That's Mike Parsons in the opening scene of "Step Into Liquid", the 2003 surfing documentary directed by Dana Brown, son of Bruce Brown (Endless Summer). The helicopter tow-in sequences are pretty insane. Would recommend the movie if you haven't seen it. I think Parsnips won the Billabong XXL awards with that wave. |

Super impressive surfing... seems he barely got into it as it lumbered along. As far as the big wave gig goes, you gotta believe that Laird Hamilton would have been ripping it up instead of trimming for escape . Certainly doesn't take anything away from Mike... he's a charger. |
