Beer and talking about kiting. Sounds like a skunk day out on the beach at SI; I'm game. |

You guys probably get sick of me asking all these retarded temperature questions all the time, but what's the water temp like at Sauvies? Just as cold as at say Stevenson? I HATE COLD! |

The temps at SI are typically warmer than Stevenson. Stevenson is higher in elevation and closer to the glacier melt/runoff from the mountains. Plus Stevenson doesn't have all that CSO from the Willamette warming things up.
It ranges from shorts and rash guards on the warmest of days to 4/3 booties, hood and gloves.
I was at SI last yr on April 1St and it was like 47 or 49 degrees water temp and like 60 and sunny. Hood, boots and gloves where needed that day. . .
And the latest day sailing at SI was two seaons ago during a Harvest Moon; either late Sept or sometime in October. 4/3 was needed for me. What a evening/night session that was! People were moonlight kiting.

Cool, thanks! Yea, that might be a bit cold for me. The last river riding I did was on Thanksgiving at Camas, and the water temp was ~49 that day too. Needless to say, I was freezin' my ass off in a 3/2. Can't wait for the water to get ~70-75 out east, with 100 degree again! |

I think we'll have to delay on the party, maybe set a date two weeks out? March 11th? |

Sounds like a plan P.
March 11th we could do a mid afternoon start that way if we use a pub we could hold onto a section before it gets too crowded. Last edited by Rollo Tomasi on Tue Mar 07, 06 12:46 am; edited 1 time in total |

Just bumping up the oldest living post on the forum again.
It was 9 yrs. ago when I recall Phil saying something like:
"Hey... what if instead of emails between us everyday to plan kite sessions and spread the stoke ... I build this forum thing?"
Happy Anniversary nwkite and Cheers to Phil in particular.
A snapshot what we did pre-nwKite haha:

Hey gang, have you seen the new links to previously unavailable sensors?
You can access them by clicking on the More Local Wx link under the
current
conditions section of the forecast. Also check out the new experimental
point forecast system.

Classic update Rollo! I lurked for a year before joining and was basically self-taught from reading nwkite posts. Many great friendships and stoke has ensued over the years. Thanks PKH for taking the time, staying true to the format and providing me a daily escape from work. Cheers!
