				 Wed May 15, 13 10:05 am    Harness Suggestions? |

				Hi Guys,

I've been rocking the same Tabu Dakine Harness since 2005 and it has been great. It does however slide up on me quite a bit and I'm thinking it's finally time to upgrade. I've heard of mystics crushing dudes ribs in the past or other problems with other harnesses which is why it has taken me so long to evolve.

What are people wearing that don't ride and won't crush ribs?

I'm about 190 5'11. Moved down to Ventura and been riding twin tips, but thinking I might try Directionals at some point.

Thanks!

Josh

PS I'm thinking harnesses are safe from the brand vs brand lockdowns but we'll see |

Get a Mystic warrior. Never heard of that BS about crushing ribs from anyone. It has best protection from spreader bar I have used.

I once switched to a DaKine Pyro and hate it. |

Mystic Warrior for at least the past 5 years, love it. Never had discomfort issues. _________________ CGKA Member

Thanks for the input I'll pick one up shortly... Maybe it was the Pyro I had heard something bad about. Or maybe I'm just making it up. Thought I read a thread about it quite a while back... Anyway thanks a lot!

				| I've been perfectly happy/no complaints with my Liquid Force Luxury harness. Super comfortable. |

The "crushed ribs" issue is a reality, but I don't think it has anything to do with brand. Its all about the fit. If the harness fits well, it shouldn't be an issue. But... my wife started kiteboarding with a waist harness... I was watching her riding around at Jones when she suddenly came in. I could tell something was wrong and after securing the kite she said she was just riding along when suddenly something in her back just "popped". Turned out she had really done something to her ribs... partial dislocation or something like that. She moved over to a seat harness and has had no problems at all.

I did some research online, and other people have had the same problem. I use a Pyro waist harness and have had no problems at all, but it fits like a glove. Mystic is supposed to be really good too... so just make sure the fit is really snug & secure and you should be good. |

The Sessions Ocean Rodeo harness suits me just fine.

even when I have my kite up high ,and it pulled up pretty far ,there isn't a problem.

Because it's like a Chinese handcuffs, the back and front is pretty stiff

it pulls from a bigger area ,both sides.

My legs are not fucked like a seat harness.

I think with all of them it's leaning backward is the best stance.

And the higher hook ,

the easier the moves are on the waves |

Most certainly a personal thing and requires some demo time. I have at least 5 friends whom I can think of right now who have tried a waist harness for less than 1/2 hour and "ruined their backs". I guess I'm just lucky. I've ridden a diaper harness maybe once in 8 years and hated the loss of freedom without the waist harness.

Some think you can boost higher since the hook is lower? _________________ CGKA Member

Hands down mystic warrior! I think what's critical here is the correct fit. I've learned if it fit's you at the store that does not necessarily mean it'll fit you on the water after a few sessions. Harnesses do stretch. I wear everything medium, but when it comes to Mystics gear, I buy small. Mystics sizing runs large usually. I have had the warrior, size small, for a few years now and never had a comfort/ pressure points issues. _________________ SAY WHAT YOU MEAN, MEAN WHAT YOU SAY |
