"The Appellants of Mt Hood" filed an appeal on Jan 13th. USFS has 45 days to respond.

It doesn't allow for the land kayakers and stand up mountain boarders to have a place to use 3 times a year.

In general there is a commonality between white water kayaking, mt. biking, surfing, windsurfing, kiting etc as opposed to motorhead activities such as wave runners, snowmobiles, quads, wake boarding.

The problem with cable park, in the minds of most, was that it was too much of a motorhead activity akin the wake boarding. The biggest personalities on this form came out swinging pro-cable park. However, I highly suspect that the majority of kite surfers are secretly happy that the cable park did not pass.

However, I don't think you will see the same strength of resistance to Mt. Biking. I figure that most of the organizers of the anti-cable park crew either mt. bike or wish they did.....

Unlike the cable park, I suspect "all" kite surfers will support mt. biking......

I wish it was that easy or logical of reasoning for us to understand why certain local opposition groups do what they do.
The more meetings you attend on the subject and discuss with the opposition in situations like this, you begin to realize that underneath it all the most powerful motivations are personal, blindly ignorant, or even worse, both empowering each other without merit.
It's easier to confront intelligence with intelligence, it makes for humane and logical decisions that are usually to everyone's benefit.
When being confronted with personal emotions and ignorance, it always gets ugly and in the end the collateral damage helps no one and everyone loses out except for the ones who were willing to go overboard crazy and didn't care about the end results except for stopping whatever it is they are against and getting whatever they lined themselves up to receive as the trophy.
