yah, stay inland, that'll keep you safe. Rolling Eyes

i wasn't really turning this into a human vs sharks thread, or a fear sharks thread, I was just curious about the duck.

but since we're on the subject, does anyone know the migratory habits of 'ol whitey? (i.e. when are they up this way?)

Tony - haha, well maybe a few grenades then? Except I don't know how you're going to get them inside the shark when he's got you in his mouth (and that's if he hasn't just ripped you in half already).

pjc - Not worried about kiters getting killed by sharks, it's just if I saw one out there I'd probably crash, then get EATEN! Laughing

Yardsale - That's fuckin' awesome!!!

Glock...! Dude, you'll need to pack a little more heat to stop jaws....

Surely he meant that the Glock was for himself, not the shark, right?

And I realize a big shark probably isn't going to die from 30 rounds into its head/eye/nose (well maybe?), but this would slow one down, wouldn't it?

I was just reading over an old ARTICLE I found online... Nothing directly saying when/where they migrate along the Pacific Coast, but it kinda seems like they could be anywhere..? The info's a little more interesting towards the bottom where they get into water temp, etc.

Tony, you're absolutely right... I was wondering why it was only a shark head with little human legs sticking out that back. Haven't seen that awesome suit before though. Now I know what I wanna be for Halloween!!! Woop Very Happy

He was scared that day... Turned around came back in, said he wouldn't go back out that far again, and then did!

Hi guys,
I saw this thread and just had to jump in... I was the guy who saw the 9 footer between shipwreck and Sunset beach this last summer. It was quite the suprise when i came flying up over the top of a wave and it was on the surface in between waves in the trough. It was certainly a shark and it was in close seemingly cruising for dinner. When it saw me, it immediately went deep just like a big submarine. Not really a big scary deal but if I were dragging for my board, it could have been a bad deal. So yeah, the chances are slim that you will get bitten. But this is a new sport and their are alot more kiters now. I would not be suprised to see it when it hits the new of a kiter dragging for a board and getting hit.

Just beware and get to the board quick. Especially out past the breaks.

Wally

He is young and invincible! Once he gets old he might learn, then again anyone who fly’s a kite must be crazy, right?

nice post wally. glad to hear you are not too freaked out.

if i ever see a shark while kiting i will probably soil the neoprene, and then take up golf and sell the kites. in the meantime, if i lose a board outside the break i know it will be huge pain to look for it on the beach, so i will troll as long as is required.

i still say jahambi and blowhard and the others who live near the beach are the safest, since they dont have to brave the mountain passes with all the intoxicated casino players. those of us throwing down 100+ miles (roundtrip) to get a fix are least likely to survive (although car accidents arent "news" so you won't read about it in the papers)

probably have a better chance of dying of a heart attack while kiting than bitten by some shark minding his own bussiness. pjc I am sure a shark has looked your way with the amount of tyme you got in on the salt. Your pretty boney though, probably won't come for a close look unless your throwing a fit in the water.

happy days to come...9 foot tomorrow Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil mmmmm north wind for three days...
