Took my 3 year old sailing for the first time this afternoon. As I was concentrating on capturing my little man's expression as he felt the movement of swell for the first time, Solbach came into the frame and stole the show...effortless toeside strapless hydrofoil kiting.

Pretty impressive.

If anyone knows what the advantage if foiling strapless would be, I am all ears.

Agreed. The guy sets a wonderful example. No attitude/All performance. My little man's hat selection tended toward the opposite tude/performance ratio.

Planes on the board until speed provides enough lift for the hydrofoil to work it's magic. It's a gradual process from the board planing to hydrofoil kickin'-in and elevation of the board over the water.

That's amazing considering other people ride foil boards with boots

Well not a bad reason for sure. Foot straps are easy enough. I guess one advantage is that you can go switch stance on it, which is harder with foot straps.

In terms of this board vs boots. It depends a lot what you are using it for, but personally I would not use boots, the impact when falling is much worse with boots. So far it has been only footstraps for me.

Haven't hydrofoils been around for many years? I remember someone riding em at Sherman Island probably 5-6 years ago and I they were around for a while even before then. Maybe it's gonna make a comeback like 80s neon colors did?

yeah, Aaron Sales rode one here early days. Loved his signature move, a triple spin he called the CUISINART.

Definitely hard to make a back roll strapless on a foil. Smile
