I’ve been kiting Roosevelt once a week for the last 6 weeks or so and not once have I seen another kiter. Of course that’s not to say there hasn’t been people kiting there at other times. Just surprised I haven’t seen any other kiters in one of the Arguably best spots in the gorge. The wind has been amazing so far! I know the launch can be a little difficult at times so perhaps that has kept people away?

What is the status of those tiny cactus-like plants in the grass? It's my once-a-year LE pin-hole visit soon and I have a couple brand new kites.

Honda,

Does the park appear to be open for overnight stays? Any sign the gate is being locked at night? I am planning to be out there early May for a long weekend and wondering if things are finally 'back to normal' there.

cheers,

Ryan,
Yes, the response I received from the Army Corps of Engineers was that overnight camping will be open by Memorial Day weekend.

"You should be good to go, Kip! Open for day use now, and according to one of our park rangers stationed at The Dalles, it should be open for dry camping by Memorial Day."
"Of course, even if it's open for y'all, we're still asking all of our visitors to follow the COVID precautions to which we've all become accustomed this past year (socially distance of possible, mask up if you can't, etc)."

But... I'm guessing the term "dry camping" means the showers will be locked closed.
