Going to SPI instead of La Ventana this year. Thoughts on best time to go? End of February is generally LV time - the only other time we went to SPI for a week and there was zero wind.
Would also like to avoid spring break time - assuming that there will be one
So February? Perhaps early March?

This was me back in early Feb. of this year. Had three days of wind for the four I was there. I used Brett at Prokite South Padre to give me "lessons," i.e. basically keep an eye on me while I mowed the lawn. Nice not to have to haul gear down. And he took some great pics/videos. He'll have the best down low on weather. Or there are some good weather sites out there that have wind history for each month of the year. I was there just prior to the shutdowns, so not sure what the virus status is.

Cheers,

LKS

There are quite a few individual and groups of kiters there now. They have been reporting a great time.

The image attached is the recorded averages from the SPI Water Park weather station.

February is usually cold and cold water and wind is dependent on frontal systems. You can get skunked or stoked. March is usually more consistent but gotta deal with spring break which if you avoid Texas week its not too bad.

Corpus has a better chance of wind, TX spring break is mid March, I usually go end of March, and over 10 years of going, have never been skunked. Many more options across the Laguna and bay if the coast isn't blowing.

I did go end of Feb one year, not as good, only got one day of kiting in.
