I agree. Drove by TD Country club. Looked like they were having a tournament.
I saw multiple groups of people hanging out talking to each other. Must have been a slow group up front slowin' everybody down.
I have to admit it kinda pissed me off. _________________ Kiting starts at 40MPH |

Apparently it's OK to drive to recreate if you are going to the golf course. I agree it is total BS |

I'm mad because people who choose to ignore basic self distancing rules are putting my family, my friends, and my community at greater risk.
It's one thing to take risks (such as kiteboarding) where the risk primarily impacts you.
However, it's another thing to recklessly put others around you at risk... and all for just a little bit of self entertainment. _________________ Kiting starts at 40MPH |

Hit the river, pull your kite out of your golf travel bag. Put a golf ball in the knife pouch of your harness. Maybe a putting club attached to your board. I’m Golfing _________________ CGKA Member |

Yes, I'm mad for purely selfish reasons. I think it's probably possible to play golf in a fairly safe way. I'm just pissed that I can't ride my bike out to the trails and cruise around in the forest where not many people are around.
But, People can drive to the golf course and park with 60 other cars and ride in carts and stand 2 feet away from everyone else on the green blahblahblah.... _________________ __________________________________________ |

That's a good one! So true.
All joking aside, and setting aside the issue of should golf courses be allowed to be open at all, I do wonder if owners of private golf courses are in a real bind. If the powers that be do not force their closure, and an owner decides to do so out of community health concerns, are they now on the hook for dues from pissed off members? |

And why should they be the only business exempt from the economic apocalypse that is hitting everyone else? _________________ curiously observing blurry patterns while slightly distracted |

Exactly!
Powerful psychedelics revealed to me the true nature of golfers, and it is frightening.
Pigs in polos would be sugar coating the image.
Still have flashbacks of tusky swine driving golfcarts.
Once the truth is revealed, you can’t un-see it. _________________ Pull the cork. |

My comment was mostly just trolling, as I'm not much of a golfer myself. But I did go play at Indian Creek earlier this week to get out of the house. Yes, I do agree with you that golf isn't more essential than kiting or biking or anything really. But I will say that I felt cleaner leaving the golf course than I did leaving Safeway the other day. The golf staff was very persistent on keeping a 10 foot distance between everyone, allowing only 1 person in the pro shop at a time, only allowing 1 person per cart unless you are immediate household, they covered the ball cleaners, they aren't allowing anyone to take out the flagstick, they put a device in the cup so the ball doesn't go all the way in so you can get the ball without touching anything, AND there was someone out enforcing these rules, as I was busted standing too close to my colleague and was called out.
Unfortunately there wasn't anyone at Safeway patrolling the fruits and veggies, as I watched an older woman touch EVERY BOX OF STRAWBERRIES before finally choosing one that she thought was up to par (get the golf pun?)
Maybe it's just my stupid 20 something year old attitude, but I just want to kite, bike, golf as much as I can.
Singlemalt, why do you have to call people pigs? |

Just relating my vision, if you did more drugs you’d get it. Ya see what ya see when the trip gets strange.
I’m just as frustrated as everyone else. Signs up closing trails, beaches closed, and a looming economic disaster. I can’t walk in the woods out here in the sticks? And yet golf courses are open? Whatever.
I feel for the grocery workers who are spending their days face to face with whoever walks in the store. And the nearly twenty million who have lost their jobs.
So, you can see how the lousy visual of golfers out on the links, enjoying the beautiful weather, is catching some flack. _________________ Pull the cork. |

Check out Malcolm Gladwell about golf, utube maybe
Or for a shorter rant, Robin Williams
Or George Carlin
I’d post links but we all have a lot of time to fill these days _________________ curiously observing blurry patterns while slightly distracted |

That lil’ chunk of prose right there is a thing of beauty.
Is this a bad trip yet? |
