Sun Nov 18, 18 7:57 pm Driving to Baja - current border conditions? |
|

Anyone have first hand experience crossing the border since this whole Trump/ Migrant Caravan/ Immigration Fiasco/ Wall/ Military presence mess started in the last few weeks?
Wondering if it goes alright? or if it would be worth driving to Nogales? or another border crossing? Planning to cross Dec 8th if anyone wants to caravan.

I "belong" to Facebook "Talk Baja" as well as "On the Road in Mexico". All recent reports are saying there are no delays going south. And even coming back north has had only the usual Sunday afternoon hell lines.
The one alarming comment was from an RV Motorhome Canadian driving northbound on 15D in Sinaloa who found large groups of caravan people crowding around the toll booths. At one toll booth, some Guatemalans climbed up onto his rig.... only to be quickly removed by the Federales. No problem.
ETA frontera December 6th.

We went through Tecate and they just waved us through, driving in a white Ford van. Even after getting the red light. No problem at all and the same with the military ‘stops’, barely stopped, just waved us through at 4 of them. Easiest trip yet in 20 years. |
