| I would think a surfboard or skim would be more fun tool around on light wind days. Can pick up used surfboards cheap. |

If you just want to mow the law on a surf board it will work OK for light winds, but if you want to jump or do some wake style tricks you'd be better off with a short wide board. I have a Nobile 666 135x44 and it has almost the same low end as my Glide, but feels like a regular sized board. My philosophy has always been to do as little yard work as possible, so I would get the wide board and let someone else mow the law for you.

I believe I said "Mow the Lawn" with a surf board! A skim board is another story, but if you're not a Pro rider you'll get more from a wide board with straps vs a skim board. I have a surf board, a skim board, a glide, a 135x 44cm wide board, and a 130x39. Now if I could only keep two boards they would be the 135x44 and the 130x39. The others are fun at times, but you're still mowing the lawn in light winds on the surf or the skim board.

Skim boarding in lawn mowing conditions is the best! You should take the foot straps off that wide board and put foam on the top!
I have skateboard roots though, so I'm a little bias. |

So for stupid light wind it has been decided:
1. Most fun - anything you build yourself (BB those lightning boltz rock!)
2. Surf Board (preferably in Hawaii)
3. Skim Board (if you are Mark Shinn)
4. Short Fat or the pc Ideally Proportioned or the shape of things to come(was surprised that pkh's Hein board did seem to have all the benefits of lightwind float of a Glide in a much nimbler package - dimensions?)
5. Big Fatty - better than sittin on the beach
Sauvies is a great place to get things dialed on the surfboard before getting crushed in the surf and the those skim tricks are just like skateboarding - try it a 100 times you'll get it - 500 you are Mark Shinn |
